Haven't seen a theatrical production set in Harlem in a long time! Set a midst church and family life, I anticipate nothing less than a soulful, hilarious and vibrant show!

  1. Somebody say Amen!

I walked in a tad late and was immediately tele-ported into a Sunday morning service in a community church in Harlem! I wanted to shout Hallelujah and sing (and dance) the worship praises, to be honest, I am not too sure what held me back!

The conversation did seemingly drag in some bits, but the spirited back-biting of Sister Margaret (the lead pastor) made it slightly more bearable.

And I looooved Sister Moore who standing first in line for the pastor's throne, 'ain’t never been sweet on no man but the Lord Jesus Christ'!

  2. Sister Moore... a character you love but could strangle at the same time! Still it was a great uplifting service held up on that stage on a balmy Monday evening. Hilarious in parts and reflective also on how adaptive the human spirit has got to be to the winds of change. Sister Margaret's rigidity finally humbled her to the fact that her family had changed, her community too. Amen!?!
